We live Steamboat. We LOVE Steamboat.

3 Day Romantic Weekend in Steamboat

Need to get away for the weekend? The mountains are a perfect place for a relaxed, romantic weekend and there is no better place than Steamboat in the early days of summer. If you need ideas for things to do, hikes to take and where to eat, we put together an itinerary for your weekend.

Arrive in Steamboat, get settled into your hotel or condo and then head over to the Strawberry Park Hot Springs for a late afternoon soak. The gorgeous setting and warm water will quickly settle you into vacation mode as you feel your stress and travel day melt away.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs can be incredibly romantic when you go at quiet times.

Then, head back into town for dinner. Downtown Steamboat is full of amazing restaurants and there is something for everyone! Craving sushi? Try Tahk Omakase where you can sip sake and munch on the chef’s amazing daily specials. Want a juicy steak? 8th Street Steakhouse has one for you and you get to pick out which one you want and even cook it to perfection yourself. Or, if you fancy sitting outside on the patio under twinkling lights, grab a table at Aurum where you can enjoy dinner overlooking the river.

If you choose to go to Stagecoach later in the day, you can catch a breathtaking sunset!

Rent a paddle board in town (or bring your own!) and head out to one of our surrounding lakes. Go south to Stagecoach or north to Steamboat Lake and spend the morning on the water. Stop at Wild Plum Market to grab picnic provisions before you head out of town – you can grab items from their market and piece a lunch together or they also offer sandwiches to-go.

When you’ve paddled enough, head back into Steamboat. Ready for some real pampering? Try a couples massage at Life Essentials Day Spa or choose from one of their many indulgent spa offerings.

That evening, take a gondola ride to the top of Mount Werner. You’ll get stunning views of the valley, lit up for the night and you can have dinner at the top of the mountain. There are plenty of places at the base of the mountain to grab a drink pre-gondola ride as well – stroll around and explore the mountain in the summer….and if you’re feeling brave, you could even take a ride on the Mountain Coaster!

Wake up slowly – it’s vacation after all! – and wander over to Yampa Valley Kitchen for brunch. Their selection of local produce and meats is top tier and their cocktail menu is pretty great too!

Want to stretch your legs before your trip home? Try a hike like Fish Creek Falls – you’ll get amazing waterfall views and you can make the trail as long or short as you want to, depending on your time frame. The hike from the parking lot down to the base of the falls is less than a mile and then the trail continues up and into the woods and eventually ends up at a lake seven miles away. Turn around any time – if you can drag yourself away from the beauty of Steamboat!

One of those rare moments at Fish Creek Falls without the kids!

If you need sustenance for the trip home, stop by Drunken Onion on your way out of town. Their selection of sandwiches, salads and desserts will keep everyone happy on the way home.
