Five Stores You Need to Visit While Shopping in Steamboat

Downtown Steamboat provides a pretty idyllic shopping situation for anyone and everyone. From toy stores and candy stores to boutiques and t-shirt shops, renowned galleries and a quaint local bookshop, you could spend hours wandering the sidewalks of Lincoln Avenue, browsing, grabbing a coffee, shopping, grabbing a cocktail….here are five stores we recommend visiting.

Off the Beaten Path
Steamboat’s bookstore has been a favorite with locals and tourists since, well, forever. The shelves are filled with everything: hot new releases, Colorado – and Steamboat specific – guidebooks, a large selection of paperbacks, plus a great children’s section as well as toys, games and gifts. Grab a coffee and a treat at their little coffee shop, located right inside the bookstore, and spend some time browsing for your next great read. (68 9th St)

Ohana
A local’s favorite, Ohana has grown from a tiny shop down a side street to a beautiful, bright storefront right smack in the middle of Lincoln Avenue. Locally owned by a couple who started with screenprinted t-shirts and sweatshirts, the store has expanded to include jewelry by local artisans, cards and prints, mugs, accessories and much more. Want to look like a Steamboat local? Snag a t-shirt or a hat and wear it around town. (843 Lincoln Ave.)

Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory
Whether you need a bribe for a little one or just a fun treat, Fuzziwig’s is the place to be. Loaded with candy, toys, homemade fudge, truffles and even a selection of ice cream, Fuzziwig’s is a must-go for anyone with kids (or without!). You’ll marvel at sweets that you haven’t seen since your own childhood (Gobstobbers, anyone?!) and be amazed at the floor-to-ceiling displays of colorful candy. Try: anything from their homemade selection in the front glass case to the left of the door when you enter. (845 Lincoln Ave.)

Steamboat Art Company
A staple on the Steamboat shopping scene since the 1970s, Steamboat Art Company offers one-of-a-kind handmade items, jewelry, accessories and much more. Step into the cool interior and browse items created by local artisans and Colorado artists. If you’re looking for a gift to bring home, this is the store for you. (903 Lincoln Ave.)

F.M. Light & Sons
You probably saw the yellow signs lining the highway as you drove into town that advertise F.M. Light’s and this iconic Steamboat store is a must-visit for anyone. With a wall of cowboy boots and hats to choose from, you can outfit yourself in Western garb (kid’s items included!). Or, if the cowboy look isn’t for you, check out their selection of other clothing, toys, gifts and more. The store is right in the middle of downtown, recognizable by the life-size horse out front, which kids will love to sit on while their parents snap a picture. (830 Lincoln Ave.)
